London District Youth ‘Get Connected’
Abigail and Prince went to the London District event, which included workshops in singing, dancing, and networking for youth workers. In the evening there was worship /concert which included the Walworth Methodist Church marching band, a music group and a speaker from Hillsong.   "‘I really enjoyed the event due to the activities that took place.  The fact that we were able to take part in the concert at the end made it entertaining. I really enjoyed it and would go again if I had the chance." Prince

All Hallowes Eve
Trinity Enfied was concerned about the recent rise of Hallowe'en events, and the pressure put on children and young people to attend events which either a) frighten members of the community or b) align themselves with the darker side of life. It is no good being concerned without taking action!

To create a Christian distraction Trinity Church organised a Hallelujah party for the 5-10 year olds with the emphasis on fun, games, food and Hallelujahs! The first child through the door announced that “mum won’t let us go trick-or-treating, but I want to have fun.” A card through the letter box two days later said; “thank you for a brilliant Hallelujah party. It was GREAT!”

Kathleen and Kesha wrote “We had fun singing. We had fun making pizzas and making friends. We danced to the music. We had ice-cream and sweets and drinks. I want to do it again.”

For the over 11’s there was a Christian rock and worship event called “One Sat” featuring “The Real Alternative band ” who played a set of songs from modern Christian writers; Tim Hughes, Hillsong and Phil Wickham. Over 50 teenagers came through the doors listening to Christian music, (loud) rock-music that they all really enjoyed and worshipoed to, performed in an atmospheric church, accompanied by a high tech light-show. Reverend Bill Tardy preached and the young people were led in powerful focussed prayers. They didn’t want to go home.  They had never experienced Church in quite this way!
Young people from our community will be walking past the Church thinking “This it is relevant to us; a cool place to go.  They do play music we understand in a way that we can relate to.”

Oakwood Church welcomed a group of young Christians from Germany last summer. They stayed in the church and had outings to London from there. At the week-end they spent a sunny day at the Woodland Camp, Lambourne End. What a wonderful place for a day out with kids - or for the church family.
