***
Situated close to the underground station and parade of shops, Oakwood Methodist Church has served the area for some 70 years.. The size of its congregation is now more modest than at its peak, and, with people moving away from the area, has a majority of elderly attenders. But the welcome is warm for any age!

The building hums with community activities: preschool playgroup and ballet school in the former Scout hall, and choirs, art groups, even an orchestra using other spaces. The Girls Brigade meets on Tuesday evenings (see details above).  The church runs a lively Parent and Toddler group weekly on Wednesday mornings (where our young-at-heart grandmas can lend support to young Mums). The Friday lunch club (hosted at the Baptist Church in Merrivale) serves the local community and remains highly popular.

There is table tennis on Monday and Wednesday evenings, badminton on Tuesday and Thursday and an afternoon Tea Dance from 1400 on Thursdays.

There are afternoon and evening groups (the ‘Compass Club’ the ‘Wednesday Club’ and ‘Group 78’), a fortnightly prayer group and a monthly house group.

Sunday morning Coffee Rota
A few more volunteers are sought to make and serve the coffee or to wash up afterwards. If you could help occasionally, even just to fill gaps when others are away for the week-end, would you contact Rosemary. Thanks.
